Yesterday was the first day of spring and I even though I’m a total summer girl, there is something refreshing in spring season. 🌸 Usually it’s the season when I do makeovers in our flat, especially by cleaning and getting rid of unnecessary things and clothes 👗. I change my wardrobe but also some cosmetics because the sun starts to hit harder which means my skin requiers different care. Another thing I tend to do in spring is to focus on my plans and goals for summer, including traveling of course! I started to organize our big summer trip and I made a map with all the spots we wanna visit in the final destination. 📍 Sitges, Spain. Spring is officially here! ☀️ I’ve been in Sitges probably minimum 10 times already and I consider it one of the most charming towns in Catalonia. However this Sunday we visited Palau Maricel for the very first time and I can’t believe it took me so long! Palau Maricel is like a palace taken out from a fairy tale: elegant on the outside and spectacular on the inside, with terraces with undulating roofs and a cloister with panoramic views of the Mediterranean. The Palau was built at the beginning of 20th century and brings together different styles with modern and eclectic art being considered its main aroma. It’s open for the public only once per week during 4 hours, which makes the visit even more unique. We combined our entrance to Palau Maricel with the tickets to Museu del Cau Ferrat situated right in front of the palace. 😍 And by coincidence we found out that Sitges was hosting a special event that Sunday. On our last day in the city we visited Gellert Hill, which is mostly known for the Liberty Statue standing over the city from the top. Where to next? ✈️ Our big trip starts in 3 months which means we still have many weeks ahead but it’s not only the final destination I’m waiting for. I simply love being on the road. How many times did you have to wait and count days for your holidays? Probably thousands. We all did. But every day that passes by can be amazing if we turn the waiting into an unique experience! And many times something truly amazing can happen and surprise you in the less expected moment and it doesn’t have to be in another country or crossing the ocean. Those little moments are the ones we should appreciate more ♥️ Last weekend we visited El Mirador del Aeropuerto and my heart was joyful every time I saw a plane coming. Not only because I know that soon I will be boarding a plane again but also and mostly because it makes you realize how lucky we are to be able to travel and discover new places. Only few decades ago it wasn’t possible at all so yes, we are lucky! And that’s why I appreciate the journey itself so much. I enjoy to the fullest every day that brings me closer to the new adventure. Today we spent the afternoon in Delta de Llobregat and it felt great to be surrounded by nature and almost no people at all. As much as we love Barcelona it’s very needed to escape somewhere quiet on the weekends where you can actually hear birds. 🦆 I grew up in a very small town and I spent every summer at my grandparent’s farm when I was a kid so I enjoy to the fullest the days like today. ♥️ There are different trails at Delta de Llobregat, we did the one which leads to the ruins of Carabinieri House and Mirador del Semáforo, this last one you can see on the picture. 👆 The building used to control maritime traffic in the past and communicated with the ships and with the castle of Montjuïc with flags and later with an optical telegraph to warn of accidents and shipwrecks. Nowadays it serves as a viewpoint of the beach, since this beach is closed to the public. Although the triumphal arches are normally monuments built to commemorate a military victory, the one in Barcelona does not meet this requirement. Arc del Triomf was designed by the architect Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas as the main entrance to the Universal Exhibition in Barcelona in 1888 and was considered the city's gateway to modernity that, starting from a poor and stagnant society, would reach high levels of prosperity in the 20th century. Arc del Triomf celebrates the artistic, scientific and economic progress of the Catalan people.
